Waanplekken 89 - 93

In her ongoing series Waanplekken, Vivian Ammerlaan explores the paradox of creating landscapes that have never existed. Drawn to the idea of untouched and uncharted places in an age where everything seems mapped, she constructs her own visions of the sublime using photography and everyday materials.

Since 2015, Waanplekken has been an investigation into memory and imagination, an attempt to grasp the feeling of overwhelming nature without physically entering it. Her work reflects a longing for the remote and the serendipitous, while acknowledging the impossibility of truly recreating what lies beyond human reach.
