Within Marlike Marks’ long-running Polaroid practice, images often feel like fragments of memories that have not yet taken shape. The Last Leaf comes from this same place: a quiet scene found during a solitary walk, where a single leaf becomes a small marker of hope in an otherwise uncertain moment. As in much of her work, the photograph doesn’t document an event but suggests an inner state, holding onto something fragile and shifting.
