In Decay of Matter, steppe flowers are photographed and subjected to irradiation, allowing the destructive force to physically intervene in the emulsion of the film. The resulting images — marked, blistered, and partially obliterated — evoke the unpredictable transformations that occur when human ambition collides with natural processes. Through this gesture, the artist reconsiders photography as a site of ethical and historical inquiry. The project does not simply depict the aftermath of ecological disaster; it reenacts it, embedding the trauma of contamination into the photographic surface itself. In doing so, Decay of Matter becomes a meditation on the fragility of both image and environment — and on the enduring tension between technological progress and the slow violence it leaves behind.
