Vivian Ammerlaan

◼︎ Vivian Ammerlaan

In an age where the world feels increasingly mapped and defined, Vivian Ammerlaan is drawn to the remote and the unexplored. Her work emerges from a fascination with overwhelming nature and the experience of the sublime, shaped by memory and imagination.

Using various photographic techniques, she creates images of landscapes that may remain distant or untouched, yet feel deeply present. Rather than documenting specific places, her photographs reflect on how the essence of uncharted landscapes can be visualised without physically entering them.

Vivian’s work moves between reality and imagination, inviting the viewer into spaces where nature, memory, and longing quietly converge.

Her recent works are often created as unique pieces and are held in a growing number of private and corporate collections, including the Rijksoverheid, iCOON Hoek van Holland, LeasePlan NL, and Bureau Financieel Toezicht.
