The book is a monograph spanning more than twenty years of artistic practice, in which drawing and photography come together. It began as a personal exploration of my family archive, but gradually evolved into a broader reflection on the disappearance of both people and nature from our immediate surroundings. Rather than a conventional overview, the book unfolds as a carefully composed visual journey through these themes.
In this way, it contributes to a wider discourse on how artists shape memory, how we relate to a vanishing natural world, and how visual work can function simultaneously as a time capsule, a mirror, and a proposition. The book reveals how drawing and photography can act as carriers of stories that might otherwise be lost.
By giving my work a tangible form in a book, I not only document my practice, but also create space for a broader reflection, an attempt to preserve something that is, in essence, intangible.
The book was published in March 2026, with the first copy presented during the opening of my solo exhibition at Kröller-Müller Museum. A podcast accompanying the book was created by Anne Bloemendaal.
