◼︎ FAQ

◼︎ FAQ

Is it a problem if the work is not yet finished or fully produced?
Yes. For this open call, all works must be fully completed and ready for presentation. We need to see the work as it will be displayed in the gallery. Mock-ups or sketches are not sufficient; please only submit objects that are finished and can be installed as intended.

Can I submit more than one work?
You may submit one object, or multiple objects from the same series in a single submission. If you wish to submit multiple, unrelated works, you can do so via separate submissions.

Can I submit work that has been shown before?
Yes, provided it has not been shown at Ballon Rouge before.

My work is fragile or requires special handling. Can I install it myself?
Yes. If your work is fragile, heavy, or requires special handling, you can indicate this in your submission. Please note that we may ask for your help during installation to ensure your work is handled safely and displayed correctly.

Can my work include electricity, light, or electronic components?
Yes, works with electricity, lighting, or electronic components are allowed. Please clearly describe any electronic elements in your submission, and note that the work will need to be displayed near a power source in the gallery.

Is there a size or weight limit for the works?
There is no fixed size limit, but works should be suitable for presentation in a gallery space. Extremely large, heavy, or fragile works should be described in your submission.

Can I submit work from abroad?
No. We value personal contact and aim to build a community of photographers who are actively involved with the gallery. Submissions are limited to artists who live or work in the Netherlands or Belgium.

If selected, can I send my work by post?
No, we cannot accept works sent by post. We are not always available to receive packages, leaving them with neighbors is not practical, and we do not return sent works.

Will I receive feedback if my work is not selected?
Due to the number of submissions, individual feedback cannot be provided.
